Annual sports day

Sport is where an entire life can be compressed into a few hours, where the emotions of a lifetime can be felt.

The fine morning of January 30th saw the young athletes of Billabong High waiting enthusiastically to make their parents proud of their achievements, but mind you not in academics this time instead on the sports field. The Annual Sports Meet 2015-2016 held on Saturday 30th January saw the young kids having fun with the ‘BLITZ’ their mascot this year.

The event began with the Guard of Honour followed by unfurling of the school flag. Our Honourable Chief Guest- ShriDutta – Ex Governor Chattisgarh inspected the parade and was accompanied by our Principal-Mrs.SujataLakhani, School Head Boy – Gurwin Singh Sahni and Head Girl – Muneeza Ali Khan.

The March Past of the four houses – Equality, Freedom, Peace and Unity was impeccable on the rhythm of School Band. This was followed with the Lighting of Torch led by the Sports Person of the year – HarshvardhanRastogi and by the best athletes of the school. After it, oath ceremony was administered by the Head Girl – Muneeza Ali Khan.

Ms. SujataLakhani in her address welcomed the parents and the Chief Guest Shri. Dutta Ex-Governor –Chattisgarh along with other Guests of Honour - Ms. Dutta, Mayor – ShriAlok Sharma, MLA – ShriRameshwar Sharma, Collector – ShriNishantWarwade,Director - Mr. Arvindaakshan and Chairman, Mr. Najam Jamal.

ShriDutta, a passionate sports person himself set the pace of the day by unfurling the school flag and declaring the Sports Meet Open. All the flags swirling looked spectacular under the bright sun. He gave the speech which highlighted the sportsman spirit. Newsletter Bang 2015-16 was released by ShriDutta.

The meet got interesting as Malkhamb was presented by the students. The act itself was breath taking as the students performed amazing stunts – under full supervision and guidance.  Malkhamb, was seen gathering huge support from the audience as they automatically erupted in a huge round of applause on the first act itself.

Billabong always has believed in spreading the message of peace. To highlight it students gave a brilliant performance called – Knights for Peace.

Track and Field events - races were organized for all the divisions starting from 100 meters – 400 meters.

Age is no barrier, it’s a limitation we put on our minds. ‘Moms and Dads’ were enthusiastic to participate in the 100 meters race organized as a breather for students.

Grades 3 and 4 presented a wonderful combination of control over mind and body calledHandy Manouvers. Parents were overjoyed to see young lads showcasing such perfection.

Parents thoroughly enjoyed the DanzeMelange a fusion dance performance followed by the choir group which headed towards the finale.

Peace House was the winner of LinaAshar Cup of the year 2015-16. Peace House was the winner of March Past. The title of Best Drill was awarded to Grades 3 and 4 for their astounding performance in Karate Drill.

Closure ceremony included all participants on the field dancing and marching on the tunes of choir followed by the National Anthem.

We finally came to the end of our fun filled, sporty morning leaving a gratifying smile on the face of one and all present there.
