These skills collectively aid in building a holistic personality as students get to work on their diction, vocabulary, eloquence, and over-all presentation.

Diplomathon Global

A product of Apogeeoh Education, DIPLOMATHON™ GLOBAL is an academic simulation of international organizations like the United Nations, GCC, OPEC, SAARC, UNSC, European Union, FIFA, IFJ, BRICS etcetera. A student leadership conference that uses an experiential approach to learning global affairs, Diplomathon aims at helping students develop a variety of skills such as leadership, public speaking, critical thinking, and negotiation along with learning and experiencing international relations and what it is like to be a delegate/diplomat. The dynamic event persists in building confidence in the participants through debates and discussions, offering students the opportunity to work collaboratively as a team despite all the differences as they arrive at a common consensus, driven towards global peace and harmony.

BHIS Bhopal has been the host school for this prestigious event where more than 450 students from over 18 different schools across M.P. attended 12 plenary sessions at Diplomathon Bhopal 2019.

The school holds this Inter-school debate competition to bring together some of the best and brightest minds of the city under one roof, creating a worthy platform for upcoming debaters to test their skills and stand a chance to be recognized as a fine debater.

In 2019-20, participants from eight top-notch schools of Bhopal expressed their views on the topic, ‘Immigration should be restricted’. Chairperson, Dr. Seema Raizada (English Professor, Govt. MLB Girls PG College, Bhopal) along with Jury members -Dr. Deepa S. Kumar (English Professor, Govt. MLB Girls PG College, Bhopal), Dr. Renu Patidar (Professor – Political Science, Govt. Sarojini Naidu Girls PG College, Bhopal), Dr. Nidhi Nema (English Professor, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal) marked students across the following parameters: Content, Language, Diction, Overall presentation, and Rebuttal.

Eloquence

The school takes the responsibility of grooming kids from a young age so that they step-out as confident citizens of tomorrow. Out of a plethora of interesting activities offered under Sports and Performing Arts (SPA), students of Middle school who are willing to sharpen their oratory skills opt for Eloquence, where they are mentored in a congenial environment, sensitized to capsules on public speaking, story-telling, debates, poetry, group discussions and the like, through practical exposure and interactive participation, allowing them to eventually overcome their fear of being judged, of stage fright, and nervousness.

Inter-house debating not only provides a platform for students to discuss and exchange views on topics of importance, but also conditions them to speak in front of large audiences, thereby preparing them for more prestigious competitions at the national level.

Given the tech-savvy information overload era where social media has played havoc with an individual’s ability to spell words correctly, this literary event presents an opportunity to help learners enhance their cognitive abilities and hone their love for words and their correct usage. After 10 years of successful completion of ‘Spellathon’, the school hosted a celebratory ‘Spellabong 2018’, an inter-school event in association with Education Edge, which witnessed participation from 15 schools of the city. Spread across three categories- Category 1 for grades 5 & 6, Category 2 for grades 7 & 8, and Category 3 for grades 9 to 12, the event witnessed interesting rounds with varying degrees of difficulty. Juhi Goyal, Billabong High International School was declared the winner in Category 3.

Authors and Poets

  • The school has produced young writers- Abaan Ansari, Akshita Hunka, Ritwik Ojha, and Yumna Urfi who have authored amazing stories titled ‘Abster and the Wary Castle Mystery’, ‘The Dark Night’, ‘Scout Warriors’ and ‘Britain in my Backyard’ respectively.
  • The poems of our luminary students Juhi Goyal, Medha Prakash, and Syed Arsalaan have been incorporated in the curriculum across Billabong High schools worldwide.
  • Rida Aamir and Abeer Khan have made it to the finals of GIFLIF - Great Indian Film and Literature Festival (Raipur and Bhopal Chapter) in 2019 and 2016 respectively.

Theatre Fests


Theatre brings Literature alive and breeding a taste and culture for theatrical plays among students, refines and grooms them like nothing else. Hence, our school has availed every opportunity to involve students in this aspect of literature. Our High School students have actively participated and showcased their theatricals in Shakespearean plays. The students also enacted the climax scene of Agatha Christie’s masterpiece: Murder on the Orient Express. The unforgettable evening was held in The Bhopal Express (Rail Restaurant) at Lake View Ashoka, Bhopal under the aegis of Club Literati, ably mentored by Dr. Seem Raizada and guided by Mr. Bhaskar, both well-known personalities in the city’s theatrical and literary circles.
